Cyber Bullying and Youth with Disabilities
Cyberbullying “Is when someone uses technology, such as a computer or cell phone, to hurt you on purpose. Bullies can use online forums and postings that are intended to harm, damage, humiliate or isolate another person that they don’t like. Bullies may be older or more popular or they may know something private or embarrassing about you” (Kids Help Phone- Cyberbullying).
People who are Cyberbullied might:
“Feel scared to use the internet or cell phone, worry that everyone is against them, wonder who else knows that they have been bullied, feel alone, and feel ashamed”
Don’t give out personal information to anyone you don’t know, including your name, the names of friends or family, your address, phone number, and school name.
“Don’t send anything by computer that you wouldn’t want the whole world to see. Nothing is private on the internet.”
