Canadian Human Rights Act, 1985

 

Extends the laws in Canada to ensure equal opportunity to individuals who may be victims of discriminatory practices based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, family status, disability or conviction for an offence for which a pardon has been granted.

Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms,1982

 

  • It is the supreme law of the land! All other provincial and federal laws must adhere to the rights and freedoms set out in the Charter.
  •  

  • Guarantees fundamental rights and freedoms to all Canadians; including the right to liberty, equality under the law, and freedom of religion, expression, association and peaceful assembly among other things.
