British Columbia is known for its forestry industry but there is also a great need for skilled trade workers in other areas. Industries such as cooking, esthetics and baking are also on the rise due to tourism.
There are many organizations in BC pledged to support skilled trades such as the Industry Training Authority, who in 2008 pledged $1.4 million dollars to help increase youth and aboriginal participation in industry training and apprenticeship programs.
The YAST website will also help youth in BC in learning about apprenticeships, jobs and skilled trades in general!
