Electrician	installs, alters, repairs, replaces and maintains electrical systems and equipment for things like heat, light, power, control, and alarms reads and interprets drawings and specifications prepares and installs wires, conduits, and fittings feeds wires through holes in walls and floors maintains and installs control/distribution equipment installs data cables forms and tests circuits installs and maintains fibre optic systems There is always risk involved in working around high voltage electricity.	To work as an Electrician in Alberta, a person must be a registered apprentice or a certified journeyman. Floorcovering Installer	installs, repairs and replaces various types of floorcovering or wall coverings made of carpet or vinyl inspects and prepares subfloor determines placement of seams or joints estimates quantity and cost of materials measures and cuts materials places and fastens foam/rubber pad on floors for carpet joins pieces and fastens edges of carpet around perimeter applies adhesive and installs sheet goods/tile replaces damaged portions of covering removes/replaces baseboards and trim if necessary covers stairs with carpet or vinyl There is a good deal of physical labour involved.	To work as a Floorcovering Installer in Alberta, a person must: be a registered apprentice or a certified journeyman, OR work for an employer who is satisfied that the worker has the skills and knowledge expected of a certified journeyman, OR be self-employed	NORTHERN ALBERTA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY	$14 to $28 an hour plus benefits
Gas Utility Operator	installs and services pipeline systems that transport natural gas interprets prints and specifications installs and maintains anti-corrosion protection in steel and aluminium pipes locates underground systems and checks for leaks performs routine maintenance operates/maintains regulating, measuring, and odorizing facilities provides information about distribution systems observes excavations for lines investigates leaks exposes and repairs damaged lines keeps records of work and condition of lines Certain precautions must be taken when working with natural gas.
